Join us for A Garden Party Through Time courtesy of the Government House Historical Society and presented by Live History.
You are invited to enjoy the festivities of an elegant garden party, amidst the charm of the Edwardian Gardens. Guests are encouraged to dress the part, enjoy garden party delights and lend their talents to an engaging quest… through time. Can you complete the quest?
You will have one hour to complete the immersive quest presented by Live History that will take you throughout Government House’s history and around the property. Once you have attempted/completed the quest. your hard work will be rewarded with the delights of a garden party, including a choice of a sandwich, iced tea or lemonade plus dainties to indulge in on the historic back deck of Government House, facing the Edwardian Gardens.
Guests are encouraged to look their “Sunday best” to immerse themselves in the garden party experience, but what does that mean?
Traditional garden party attire for women usually means an emphasis on lighter colors, floral patterns and lighter fabric dresses, with a wide brimmed hat to compliment. Think semi-formal.
For men, this traditionally meant a lightweight suit jacket, a button up shirt, dress pants and shoes, with men usually complimenting their outfit with a top hat.
However, dressing up is just encouraged and not required. With an outdoor event happening in August, it is important to remember to wear an outfit that you can be comfortable in and to dress for the weather so you do not overheat.
Included with your ticket
- An immersive quest presented by Live History that can be adjusted for difficulty. This quest will require critical thinking and teamwork, with one hour given to complete.
- The festivities of a garden party, including food and a beverage. You will have the choice of one of two sandwiches, and either iced tea or lemonade to compliment your sandwich along with pickles and dainties. Please note that we cannot guarantee accommodation of any special dietary requests.
- A complimentary hand fan.
- Photo opportunities throughout the event within the beautiful Edwardian Gardens in full bloom.
