Events Description

The Advocats Big Band is delighted to return to the Dining Room at Old Mill Toronto for another memorable evening of dinner, live music, and dancing, setting the perfect mood for the upcoming festive season.

Originally formed in 1991 by a group of young lawyers for a Toronto fundraising event, The Advocats Big Band has grown into an accomplished ensemble featuring professional musicians and music educators. The band’s members bring extensive experience across studio recording, theatre, film and television, major symphony orchestras, nightclubs, and chamber music.

Over the years, The Advocats Big Band has performed at venues throughout Toronto and has been a regular part of the city’s live music scene. Since 2004, the band has performed regularly, including a long-running monthly residency at The Duke Toronto.

Their repertoire combines classic big band and swing favourites associated with Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra with contemporary selections from artists such as Michael Bublé, The New York Voices, Norah Jones, and more.

The Advocats Big Band has also received regular radio airplay on Glen Woodcock’s Big Band Show on Jazz.FM91 and Dean Hollin’s Big Band Sunday Night on Zoomer Radio, both based in Toronto. Their recorded work includes the albums In Full Swing! (2020) and the holiday album All I Want for Christmas is… Swing! (2022).

Join The Advocats Big Band at Old Mill Toronto for an evening of great food, timeless swing, live big band music, and dancing—the perfect way to welcome the holiday season.
