Events Description
Hear stories of transition in the Canary District, once Toronto’s oldest industrial crossroads—now a rapidly changing urban community.
Once a bustling industrial crossroads, the Canary District has transformed into a growing urban village shaped by movement and migration. On this walk, uncover stories of Irish immigrants, railway workers, factories, freight yards, and working-class life woven into the neighbourhood’s streets and buildings. We’ll explore the layers of change tied to its history as a shipping hub and working-class enclave, its transformation during the 2015 Pan Am Games, and the community taking shape today.
