Experience the Zoo after hours as more than 2,000 handcrafted illuminated lanterns transform the grounds into a breathtaking nighttime adventure. Explore spectacular wildlife-inspired displays, interactive experiences, live cultural performances, delicious food and beverages, and a one-of-a-kind lantern installation sharing the story of the endangered Blanding’s Turtle through art, light, and conservation.
Throughout the experience, guests will journey through dazzling themed lantern displays inspired by animals and ecosystems from around the globe, discover interactive photo opportunities, enjoy live cultural performances presented in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto 大多倫多中華文化中心 and savour food and beverage offerings.
A highlight of this inaugural event will be a first-of-its-kind lantern art installation bringing the story of the Blanding’s Turtle to life. Created in collaboration with an Indigenous artist, this immersive experience invites guests to step into the world of this endangered species through stunning, 100% handcrafted lanterns.
Through storytelling, art, and light, the installation showcases the importance of protecting species at risk while highlighting Toronto Zoo’s ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation. The experience also reinforces the Zoo’s Guardians of Wild Strategic Plan by connecting guests with meaningful conservation stories, inspiring action and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world as we work together to become Guardians of Wild.
