Events Description
OXI Day commemorates the rejection by Greek prime minister Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on 28 October 1940 and the subsequent Hellenic counterattack against the invading Italian forces at the mountains of Pindus during the Greco-Italian War and Greek Resistance during the Axis occupation.
Greek community of Toronto will be honouring those who fought for Greece’s freedom through a parade on Sunday.
After the parade, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at Alexander the Day Parkette.

Parade Participants gather at the corner of Chatham Ave Eustom Ave
Danforth Avenue between Broadview Avenue and Donlands Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Oxi Day Parade.
