Events Description

Explore selections from works reflecting Jim Bravo’s memories of his early immigrant inner-city experiences, and correlated interpretations of our sublime Canadian landscape. This exhibition adds yet another voice to the developing story and renewed global interest surrounding questions of race and immigration witnessed in society recently.

About the Artist: Jim Bravo was born in Ecuador, South America, and is of Afro-Latino and Quichua descent. He emigrated to Toronto Canada with his family in the mid 70s and spent his youth in the downtown central west and east core of the city. He is a graduate of The Ontario College of Art and Design University where he majored in Fine Art and public monumental painting. A multi award winning painter including first honor for the prestigious 2023 Kingston Prize For Contemporary Canadian Portraiture, Bravo is also the recipient of grants from Toronto Art Council, Ontario Arts Council grants and TABIA Mural Award.
