Events Description
Join us for Muddy Buddies, a FREE joyful, messy celebration of the Earth at the beautiful Children’s Garden at Evergreen Brick Works. This isn’t just about playing in the dirt—it’s about reconnecting with nature, celebrating the Summer Solstice, and honouring the land we play on.
Please register all guests and request tickets for your full group size (specifying adults and children). To add guests after signing up, please contact our team first.
Duration: 90 minutes of open-ended, sensory play.
Who: Everyone! All ages are welcome (children under 16 must be with an adult).
About Your Host
The session is led by Ayesha Menezes (M.Ed. ’21; Graduate Diplomas in Language & Literacy and Post-Secondary Education; B.A. Hons. ’07), a doctoral researcher at York University and published children’s author of Angelo’s Mudventures. This event is rooted in Ayesha’s advocacy for young children’s right to play. Her work challenges the “sanitization” of childhood, prioritizing relationality, wonder, and care over efficiency and control. Ayesha champions the idea that children are knowledgeable beings who deserve the freedom to play without predetermined outcomes, fostering a renewed sense of ecological connection and community well-being.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of York University and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
