Events Description
Abush was the creator and curator of the first LGBTQ+ Jewish archive in Canada. He became a notable activist in gay causes throughout the 1980s and began his archival collection in 1989. In 1995, the Toronto Centre for Lesbian and Gay studies recognized Abush’s contributions with an Achievement Award. Abush died of AIDS on November 26, 2000. At the time of his death, his collection included over 10,000 artifacts. A collection of his donated materials is held in the Canadian Lesbian and Gay archives.
