Events Description
Ballet Vancouver announces its 2026/27 debut season of three captivating programs celebrating the full breadth of classical and neoclassical ballet, on stage at the Vancouver Playhouse from September 2026 through May 2027.
The season opens with a dazzling triple bill headlined by Balanchine’s Apollo, the Canadian premiere of Jorma Elo’s Slice to Sharp, and the iconic Black Swan Pas de Deux from the beloved classic Swan Lake — with guest Principal dancers Heather Ogden of The National Ballet of Canada, Frances Chung and Francesco Gabriele Frola of San Francisco Ballet; it continues with Classical Masters in February featuring the Vancouver premiere of Beamish’s Romeo and Juliet Balcony Pas de Deux set to Prokofiev, the Canadian premiere of Tsai Hsi Hung’s Self Portrait set to Schubert, the world premiere of a new commission by Yosuke Mino set to Bach, and Beamish’s tender and profoundly moving burrow set to Shostakovich. The season concludes with the return of @giselle — Beamish’s technology-driven reimagining of ballet’s greatest ghost story, hailed as “smart and piercing” by Fjord Review.
