Events Description
Since first picking up the violin at age five, Melbourne-based Christian Li has steadily honed his craft, establishing himself as a remarkable young talent. In 2018, he became the youngest-ever winner of the Menuhin Competition, performing with the Geneva Chamber Orchestra and earning both the Audience Prize and the Composer Award. As of 2021, Li has held the title of Young Artist in Association with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra with whom he regularly performs as a soloist, along with appearing as a chamber musician.
In addition to his formal roles, Li has also made a series of acclaimed debuts with ensembles including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Gavle Symphony, Aalborg Symphony, RTV Slovenian Radio Symphony and Macao Orchestra. He has built further international recognition through performances in Taiwan, Norway and the UK.
Though early in his career, Li has released three albums to date and is also the youngest artist ever signed to Decca Classics. His latest, Tchaikovsky (2025), marks a coming-of-age moment in his career, with BBC Music Magazine declaring “Another world-class violinist has arrived on the scene.”
