Events Description
Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art and YVR Art Foundation present Cradled Origins.
This multi-medium showcase exhibition brings together eight emerging and mid-career First Nations artists working across carving, weaving, painting, and beadwork, each honouring cultural knowledge while expanding their individual practice. Several of the featured artists worked alongside mentors, a testament to the vital role of intergenerational knowledge keepers in the continued vitality of Northwest Coast art traditions.
Cradled Origins features contemporary Indigenous artworks including paintings, carvings, and textiles by the recipients of YVR Art Foundation’s 2024 art scholarship awards: Chase Gray, Chico Seitcher, Delphine Campbell, Grace Edwards, James Kwaksistala, Kashka Clellamin, Randi Ball and Serena Steel.
