This family-friendly evening is the perfect opportunity to discover the science behind shooting stars, explore our Solar System, and learn how to make the most of this year’s Perseid peak, predicted to peak August 12–13.

Take a guided tour of the summer night sky as we explore the fascinating world of meteor showers, comets, asteroids, and other celestial wonders visible from Earth. Discover what causes the annual Perseid meteor shower and why it has captivated skywatchers for generations. The presentation features stunning dome visuals, while also examining the growing impact of light pollution and what we can do to preserve our view of the stars for future generations.

Feature talk – Space Rocks: Unlocking the History of Our Solar System

Journey into the remarkable world of meteorites and other space rocks. Learn how these ancient objects are formed, how scientists classify them, and how to identify different types. Every space rock carries a piece of our Solar System’s history, providing valuable clues about the formation of planets, the evolution of our cosmic neighborhood, and the processes that continue to shape it. Discover why these extraordinary objects offer a glimpse into both our origins and our future in space.

📸 Introduction to Astrophotography

Ready to capture the beauty of the night sky? This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the fundamentals of astrophotography and the many celestial objects you can photograph. Learn how to get started using equipment as simple as your smartphone, discover helpful planning tools and resources, understand how light pollution affects your images, and take home practical tips and activities to begin your own astrophotography journey.

🔭 Observatory Tour & Telescope Viewing

End the evening beneath the stars with a guided observatory tour and telescope viewing session. Weather permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to observe celestial objects through our telescopes and experience the night sky up close while learning from our knowledgeable team.
