WestCoast Big Band Festival

Love the rousing sound of big band jazz? Imagine a full weekend showcasing 16 Lower Mainland bands performing everything from traditional swing to modern jazz/funk/metal fusion to Disney classics. Evening shows feature award-winning professional guest artist Campbell Ryga (saxophone), Rising Stars Maya Rae (vocal) and Thad Bailey-Mai (trumpet), and two hot young professional bands: Space Elevator and The Happiest Big Band on Earth. Musicians at all levels will also benefit from free jazz improvisation workshops by leading professionals. Performances and workshops are all FREE except for Saturday evening.

Especially for families: A unique audio-visual big band celebration of Disney, featuring The Happiest Big Band on Earth. It’s happening at 5 PM, Sunday November 18th. Admission is FREE! The Happiest Big Band on Earth features 17 outstanding musicians who are all big fans of Disney. The band is led by North Vancouver based Matt Grinke, an accomplished pianist, musical director, arranger, accompanist, studio musician, and Disney guru!

All in all, the festival is a not to be missed big band extravaganza!
