CN Tower Opening Hidden Areas to Public for First-Ever Free Tour; Registration Opens May 19

Take advantage of the rare chance to see sections of the CN Tower usually hidden from public view as the landmark joins Doors Open Toronto for the first time during its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The special behind-the-scenes tours will run May 23 and 24, with guided sessions taking place every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Created specifically for Doors Open Toronto 2026, the experience gives guests access to operational and architectural areas that are normally off-limits.

Along the way, visitors will learn how the tower functions behind the scenes and how it has changed since opening in 1976. The tour also includes archival footage, historical artifacts and stories tied to the tower’s role in shaping Toronto’s skyline over the past five decades.

The CN Tower says the event is part of its broader 50th anniversary programming, reflecting on its history as both an engineering achievement and one of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks.

There are a few important conditions for those hoping to attend. Participants must be at least 13 years old and comfortable navigating stairs, ladders, heights and narrow passageways. Organizers also noted the tour is not physically accessible to all abilities.

Capacity is limited, and preregistration is mandatory and opens May 19 at 10 a.m. Registration is non-transferable and must match a guest’s identification, with waivers signed on-site before the tour begins.
