1. Edmonton All Access
The City of Edmonton has developed a unique and collaborative active living, active recreation and sport strategy called “Live Active”. The Strategy will help align the City of Edmonton’s wide ranging contributions to ensure and generate the greatest benefit possible for all Edmontonians. Edmonton All Access is April 8th, and will bring to life the Live Active strategy through a city-wide, community-focused sport and physical activity day, including some professional development training opportunities. The City of Edmonton is opening their recreation facilities to Edmonton Residents to participate in sport, active recreation and active living opportunities for FREE. Details

2. An Old Fashioned Easter

6.Vimy 100
Edmonton will commemorate the centennial anniversary of Canada’s victory at Vimy Ridge. The event will be a remarkable experience for all ages. Visit Camp Vimy in Winston Churchill Square, talk with WWI soldier interpreters and hear their stories of the battle of Vimy Ridge. Parade: The heart of Edmonton will beat to the rhythm of a military parade as the city commemorates the 100th anniversary of the victory of a unified Canadian armed force during World War One at Vimy Ridge 100. All Edmonton Regiments will be represented along with the Edmonton Police Service. Details

3. 9 Parts of Desire. The Off Broadway hit play 9 Parts of Desire, written and performed by Heather Raffo, was inspired by a trip to a modern art museum in Baghdad in August 1993 and details the lives of nine Iraqi women that span the decades between the first and second Gulf Wars and occupation. Described by The New Yorker as “an example of how art can remake the world”, it is a portrait of the extraordinary (and ordinary) lives of a whole cross-section of Iraqi women: a sexy painter, a radical Communist, doctors, exiles, wives and lovers. 4. Kobzari: The Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America (UBC) has had Taras Shevchenko as its patron for almost all its 100- year history. Furthermore, musical works arranged around the words of Shevchenko’s poems have been central to the UBC’s repertoire.
