5. Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra

The program includes Mozart’s Requiem in D minor and Faure’s Requiem in D minor, Op. 48. A combined choir of over 100 singers from the Bach Elgar Choir (Hamilton), St. Joseph’s R.C. Church Parish Choir (Hamilton) and the Grand River Chorus (Brantford), will perform. Details

7. Art Songs: Shevchenko and Shakespeare

The Ukrainian Art Song Project presents Art Songs: Shevchenko and Shakespeare, featuring British-Ukrainian, Bass-Baritone Pavlo Hunka, accompanied by Albert Krywolt. In this recital, Hunka embraces the vision of comparing and contrasting the works of two great bards – Ukrainian poet, writer and artist Taras Shevchenko and William Shakespeare – through the medium of art song. The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival is Canada’s premier festival celebrating scripted, ensemble comedy. It’s 12 days of hilarity on 5 Toronto stages featuring over 200 comedians. BYOB “Bring Your Own Beat” is the premier urban dance competition series in Canada. BYOB was created to help young people steer clear of negative influences such as drug & alcohol abuse, gang activity and negative peer pressure. BYOB used to stand for phrases such as “Bring Your Own Booze”, “Bring Your Own Beer”, or even “Bring Your Own Bottle”. Our dance competition strives to re-brand those terms to mean “Bring Your Own Beat” thereby encouraging young people to be productive and creative through dance. Details

1. Tirgan Presents Nowruzgan Festival

In honour of the 150th birthday of Canada and the celebration of the Persian/Iranian New Year, Nowruz, Tirgan has put together a 3 day festival called “Nowruzgan” where Canada 150 meets Nowruz. Nowruz, the Persian New Year, celebrates the vernal equinox marking the beginning of spring and the sowing of seeds in the Northern Hemisphere. The celebration of spring heralds renewal and growth, beauty and change for people of all backgrounds. The three-day celebration of Nowruzgan, which takes place entirely at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, pays particular attention to participation of youth of all cultures with activities including over 40 hands-on workshops, music, dance, cinema, and theatre performances.
