This much-anticipated event will be officially launched on November 22 by Mayor Jeromy Farkas, with festivities kicking off at 5 pm.
The grand opening of the Lions Festival of Lights takes place on November 22, featuring hot chocolate, fireworks, and carolers as the display is officially switched on.
Festivities start at 5 p.m., with the lights scheduled to come on between 5:45 and 6 p.m.
The festival is free, but attendees are invited to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Calgary Food Bank, with donations accepted only during the grand opening.
Located at the Confederation Park Golf Course, easily accessible from 24th Avenue just west of 14th Street, the festival is a seasonal highlight, illuminating the city until January 8, 2026.
Following the opening celebrations, the lights are on from 5:30 pm to midnight.
The display offers a stunning view along 14 St NW, north of 24 Avenue.
While parking is available on nearby streets and at the North Hill Shopping Centre, visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot.
A testament to community spirit, the Lions Festival of Lights is a product of dedication and hard work. For 39 years, the Lions Festival of Lights Society, along with Lions from Calgary and surrounding areas, IBEW #254 members, and community volunteers, have been the driving force behind this event.
The festival will be open nightly from 5:30 pm to midnight, except on December 24, 25, and 31, when it extends until 1 am.
