Ontario is famous for its flower festivals and from tulips to sunflowers, there is a festival to celebrate flowers that bloom in spring and summer.

Lanark County Tourism
Lilacs are one such spring flower and you can find these in gardens across Canada, but, Beckwith Township is special as it is known as the Lilac Capital of Ontario.
This Lanark County township near Ottawa is famous for its country road called Lilac Lane bordered by beautiful, fragrant lilac bushes.
The Beckwith Township celebrates its spring blessings through a festival – the Franktown Lilac Festival.
Every year in May, the town beckons visitors to discover its Lilac Lane and offers horse-drawn wagon rides, breakfast and live entertainment.
This year, Franktown Lilac Festival takes place on May 23rd.
The day unfolds with a mix of simple pleasures and lively moments, from a craft market and antique displays to children’s games, children’s bike parade and garage sales. Breakfast starts the morning, followed by a BBQ later on. Entertainment keeps things moving with Highland dancing, magician Mike Conway and live music by Jamie McMunn & Friends.
From 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., you can join for historical horse-drawn wagon rides through the town’s Lilac Lane, offering a slower, scenic way to take in the festival atmosphere.
Franktown was established in 1818-19 as the site of a supply store between Richmond and Perth and has a rich history with many examples of compelling eastern Ontario architecture near its famous Lilac Lane.
This is not the only festival celebrating lilacs; the Warkworth Lilac Festival takes place on May 30 & 31. Located an hour east of Toronto and three hours from Ottawa, this festival is filled with family-fun activities and showcases the rarest varieties of lilacs.
The peak lilac bloom generally lasts about 10 days to two weeks (weather dependent) from mid-May to mid-June.
