Boo at the Zoo returns to Assiniboine Park Zoo this October with a month of family-friendly Halloween activities, themed areas, carnival rides, performances and interactive experiences.

Running from October 2 to 31, 2026, the annual event transforms part of the Winnipeg zoo into Spookyville, an immersive Halloween town designed around spooky sights without the intensity of a traditional haunted attraction. While some displays may surprise younger children, organizers say there are no jump scares.

Visitors can wander through themed areas such as Lantern’s Gate, Boo Manor, and Monster Way, with Halloween displays, surprises, characters, and photo opportunities along the route. The event is family-friendly, with spooky scenery but no jump scares.
Those looking for more activities can head to the Haunted Fair, located at the end of the Zoo loop.
Haunted Fair, Monster Disco and Pumpkin Putt-Putt
The Haunted Fair features carnival rides for different ages, including a Ferris wheel, carousel, and kid-friendly rides. Fair rides are included with Boo at the Zoo admission.

- Make something at a craft station
- Watch pop-up performances
- Meet costumed characters
Stop at Halloween-themed photo opportunities throughout the route
Optional extras include Spooky Sketches, where a caricature artist creates drawings for up to two people, and Monster Makeovers face painting. Both have limited availability and cost extra.
Halloween Day at Boo at the Zoo
For the first time, Boo at the Zoo will open during the daytime on Halloween.
On Saturday, October 31, the event runs from 12 PM to 9 PM and will feature trick-or-treat stations, Halloween entertainment, festive activities, and treats throughout Spookyville. Additional Halloween Day programming may be announced closer to the event.

Food and Drinks
Food and beverages will be available throughout the event route. Tundra Grill will offer full-service meals, while other locations will serve snacks, treats, and grab-and-go options.
Hot and cold drinks, including both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, will also be available.
When is the event
Boo at the Zoo runs from October 2 to 31, 2026. It is open Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5 PM to 10 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 PM to 11 PM. The event is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Halloween, October 31, Boo at the Zoo will be open from 12 PM to 9 PM.

Boo at the Zoo takes place at Assiniboine Park Zoo, 2595 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg.
Parking is available at the Zoo and throughout Assiniboine Park, although spaces directly in front of the Zoo are limited.
What Does it Cost?
Admission is $17.50 plus GST for ages three and older, while children two and under are free. All visitors, including infants, require a ticket. Fair rides are included with admission. Discounted group rates are available for purchases of 25 or more tickets.
Tickets can be exchanged for another available date or time at least three hours before the scheduled visit, subject to a $10 exchange fee. Refunds are offered only if the event is cancelled.
Know Before You Go
Boo at the Zoo operates rain, snow or shine and is cancelled only in extreme or hazardous weather. Individual rides may temporarily close because of rain or high winds. If the event is cancelled, notices will generally be posted by 2 PM that day, and online ticket holders are contacted by email.
Family-friendly costumes are encouraged, but prop weapons are not permitted. Pets are not allowed, while service animals are permitted with vaccination documentation. Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the Zoo, and there is no re-entry after leaving.
