The journey of River Ridge Farm Flowers began when Dave and Laura, after raising their children and navigating demanding careers, decided to make their retirement dream a reality. They found the perfect location at 12500 Concession 6, amidst the rolling hills between Leaskdale and Zephyr. Although the property lacked a livable farmhouse, the land’s natural beauty and panoramic views won them over.
Since their move in March 2020, the couple has transformed the property into an enchanting floral paradise.
The farm boasts over 3 acres of gardens bursting with colourful annuals and perennials.
For flower enthusiasts eager to try their hand at creating their own bouquets, the farm offers a unique cut-your-own flower experience. Visitors can wander through the main cut garden area and select their favourite blooms. With an array of flower varieties, including lavender, peonies, delphiniums, strawflowers, zinnias, lisianthus, ranunculus, anemones, and sunflowers, there’s something for everyone’s floral preferences.
For a nominal fee of $20, visitors can cut their own bouquet, choosing from a wide array of blossoms. Pre-cut flowers are also available for purchase at $25.
The gardens come alive with pollinators during all seasons, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors can also explore the sunflower patch and capture beautiful memories against its golden backdrop. Additionally, a pumpkin patch will be ready for visitors from late September to mid-October this year.
Additionally, the farm offers photo shoot opportunities and flower subscriptions. You can also book your private event at the farm.
The farm will be open from Saturday, June 3, 2023, to Monday, October 16, 2023, with operating hours from Tuesday to Thursday, 1 pm to 4 pm, and Friday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. Sunday and Monday will be closed, but visitors can call ahead to check if the gates can be opened.
