The Harrison Sunflower Festival is set to debut during the week of August 20th, ushering in a new era for flower enthusiasts.

Harrison Sunflower Festival
Previously known as the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival, this event is undergoing a transformation, now taking root in a picturesque Agassiz location near Harrison Hot Springs.
Organized by the Onos family, the Harrison Sunflower Festival is scheduled to tentatively open on August 22nd, subject to bloom readiness. The new site offers the majestic Mount Cheam as a stunning natural backdrop to over 20 acres of vibrant sunflowers and other seasonal crops. The festival’s duration spans approximately four weeks, transitioning into a pumpkin patch in time for Halloween celebrations.
This move signifies a homecoming for the Onos family, pioneers of agritourism in the Fraser Valley. Having previously initiated the Tulips of the Valley festival in Agassiz in 2006, they later shifted to Chilliwack, where the Chilliwack Tulip and Sunflower Festivals thrived. The new location marks a return to their roots, allowing for expanded agritourism prospects.
Attendees can anticipate a plethora of photo-worthy moments while wandering through three kilometres of pathways adorned with 45 varieties of sunflowers, diverse summer flowers, and a sprawling barley field. Numerous photo opportunities abound, including vintage vehicles, swing sets, and raised platforms for personalized group portraits. The festival also boasts a U-pick field with five sunflower varieties for visitors to craft vibrant bouquets.
The on-site Farm Store will feature fresh-cut sunflowers, seeds, bulbs, souvenirs, snacks, and local produce. A food truck will be available daily.
Looking forward, an autumnal attraction is planned for September 29th—the Harrison Pumpkin Festival. The following spring, the site will host the Harrison Tulip Festival in 2024.
Harrison Sunflower Festival will welcome visitors daily from 10 am to 6 pm, with weekday tickets priced at $15 and weekend tickets at $20 until September 17, 2023. Booking in advance yields a $5 discount. Tickets are available online weekly, commencing every Wednesday before the upcoming week. The venue at 5039 Lougheed Highway, Agassiz offers free parking adjacent to the entrance.
