High Park Nature Centre, a charitable organization that was established in 1999 and offers various fun and educational nature programs, says the cherry blossoms are currently at stage 5 in the bloom development process.
This charitable organization, which works tirelessly throughout the year to inspire a sense of wonder, knowledge, and respect for High Park’s natural systems, expects peak bloom on Friday, May 1, when at least 70% of the blossoms open.
The peak bloom and how long the peak bloom lasts will depend on the weather – cool, calm weather can extend the bloom period, while warm, unsettled weather can shorten it. The average peak bloom will last approximately 4 to 10 days.
VISITING HIGH PARK DURING PEAK BLOOM 2026
During the peak bloom period, Cherry blossom viewing in High Park is a vehicle-free blooming experience except for TTC’s Wheel-Trans service.
Though you are not allowed to access High Park via your vehicle during peak bloom periods, you can enjoy a 30-minute scenic ride on the park’s seasonal Trackless Train for $9 for adults, $6 for children aged three and up and $6 for older adults over 65. The train weaves through the park, picking up passengers along the way.
You can purchase tickets from the train operator. A ticket allows for one stopover, so you can take the train to your favourite spot, enjoy your stay in the park and hop back on.
Use TTC for easy access to High Park during peak bloom periods. You can walk to the main entrance of High Park from High Park Subway Station or Keele Station. 506 Carlton Streetcar and 501 Queen Streetcar are the two other options.
