The recall affects products sold in Canada under article numbers 305.781.89 and 201.521.58, and globally under article number 601.636.02.

Per the news release, the issue came to light after an internal investigation revealed a manufacturing defect in units stamped with date codes ranging from 2411 to 2522 (representing year and week of production). According to IKEA, there’s a risk that pieces of metal could break off and potentially be consumed with food, posing a clear health hazard.

To check if a garlic press is part of the recall, customers are advised to look for the IKEA logo on the upper handle. If the product can’t be identified confidently, customers are still encouraged to return it.

IKEA is offering a full refund for any affected garlic press, and no receipt is necessary. Returns can be made at any IKEA location across Canada.

Customers are also being asked to spread awareness of the recall, especially if the garlic press was given or sold to others.
