Tim Hortons has launched a nationwide contest inviting Canadians to submit original donut ideas for a chance to win $10,000 and a trip to the company’s Test Kitchen in Toronto. The “Battle of the Donuts” contest opens on June 6 and runs until July 4, 2025.

Entries will be evaluated by a Tim Hortons panel based on creativity, potential popularity, and how realistically the donut could be produced at scale.
The judging panel will review submissions between July 5 and October 5, narrowing them down to three finalists. Public voting to determine the final winner will take place from October 6 to October 19.
The grand prize includes $10,000 and a two-night trip for two to Toronto, valued at approximately $5,500, based on a hypothetical departure from The Pas, Manitoba. The trip includes a session in the Tim Hortons Test Kitchen, where the winner will recreate their donut idea with Chef Tallis Voakes, the company’s Director of Culinary Innovation.
“This contest is about big imagination,” Voakes said, highlighting the company’s ongoing enthusiasm for new donut innovations since its founding in 1964.
There’s also the possibility that the winning creation could appear in Tim Hortons restaurants nationwide.
Voakes said the contest is a chance for Canadians to showcase their creativity and contribute to the company’s long-standing donut tradition, which dates back to 1964.
Participants must be residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority. Each entrant can submit one donut idea, described in 100 characters or fewer, via the official contest website. No purchase is required.
