Get ready, Toronto! Your ticket to the cosmos and a whimsical wonderland is about to be punched!

Illuminarium at The Distillery District

On August 25, 2023, the Distillery Historic District is set to illuminate as Illuminarium, the global experiential entertainment behemoth, along with Secret Location, its Emmy award-winning partner, opens its pioneering Canadian branch at the former Fermenting Cellar.

This isn’t just any old location; we’re talking a colossal 13,500 square-foot stage for spellbinding spectacles.

Think VR, but sans the cumbersome glasses. Imagine being “inside” the narrative, literally sensing the story – seeing, hearing, smelling, and even influencing the universe around you. This revolutionary location features Christie’s laser projection, scent machines, LIDAR sensors, and digital soundscapes.

Toronto’s Illuminarium will make its grand debut with two immersive experiences – “SPACE: A Journey to the Moon & Beyond,” and “Waking Wonderland,” by Secret Location.

Visitors can soar through cosmic nebulae, kick moon dust, see Saturn’s rings up close, and manoeuvre through asteroid belts in SPACE. Or tumble down a rabbit hole in Waking Wonderland to chase the Cheshire Cat, stir chaos in the Mad Hatter’s tea factory, and tiptoe into the Queen of Heart’s throne room in a quest to reawaken a dormant Wonderland.

Come September, “SPACE AFTER DARK” opens its doors to the 19+ crowd. Fancy cocktails served by futuristic robots, DJs, musicians, live performances, and dreamscapes that constantly shift under the influence of proprietary projection and audio systems.

As per the news release, the lineup planned for the space includes a WILD Safari Experience, Lite Brite Worlds of Wonder, The Greatest Moments in Rock & Roll, Virtual Artist Residencies, a Prehistoric World Dinosaur Experience, and more.

“We’re thrilled to open our first Illuminarium in Canada. Toronto is booming with entertainment creation so it was a natural fit for us to open up our first Canadian experience here,” said Alan Greenberg, CEO of Illuminarium Experiences in a news release.

“Illuminarium at The Distillery District will be a playground for all– from first dates to families and everyone in between.”
