Visitors are now offered a fresh perspective with extended hours, from 6 p.m. to as late as 10 p.m., especially on weekends, providing a rare glimpse into the historical and technological significance of the site, coupled with mesmerizing light and sound displays.
Sensory Exploration of Power Station
The highlight of the evening is the “Currents” light and sound show, an award-winning performance that takes place continuously between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. in the main generator hall. This show delves into the story of the Niagara Parks Power Station through a combination of reactive media and dramatic narratives.

An updated visitor experience includes flexible viewing times for the Currents show, allowing guests to explore at their own pace. The tunnel and generator hall are bathed in dynamic LED lighting, which highlights archival images and brings the rich history of the power station to life.
The Immersive Underground Journey Through the Historic 2,200-Foot-Long Tunnel
The new illumination of power station’s 2,200-foot-long tunnel highlights the natural spectacle of the falls but also delves into the engineering marvels of the early 1900s. The tunnel itself, an engineering feat, was originally excavated using rudimentary tools such as lanterns, dynamite, pickaxes, and shovels.
Today, the path through the tunnel is illuminated by dynamic LED lighting, which casts light on archival images and sound effects to enhance the historical narrative.
The underground journey begins with a descent in a glass-walled elevator down to 180 feet below the main generating floor. The smooth, even path through the tunnel is lined with benches and ends at a newly constructed viewing platform.
