Renowned chef Vikram Vij and Eat Up Canada have announced the highly anticipated opening of Bombay Frankies in Kanata.

This marks the fast-casual concept’s first expansion into Eastern Ontario. The 26-seat restaurant opening on June 23, spanning 1,600 square feet, revolves around the Frankie roll, a popular Indian street food from Mumbai, formerly Bombay.

The Frankie roll is a handheld wrap made with a house-made flatbread called a paratha, stuffed with a delectable combination of meats or vegetables, Indian spices, and sauces. Chef Vij, a celebrated restaurateur, cookbook author, and TV personality, has put his own unique twist on classic frankie roll flavor pairings, infusing the menu with his culinary expertise.

Per the news release, diners can expect an elevated experience, unlike other fast-casual restaurant. Instead of disposable takeout containers, guests are presented with plates and silverware. Sides are served in authentic copper bowls sourced from India, and orders are delivered to the table.

The menu features an array of meat and vegetarian frankie options, each with varying spice levels, as well as rice bowls, salads, sides, drinks, and desserts.

All Frankie rolls are priced under $12.

Noteworthy menu items include the crispy butter-chicken Frankie for those seeking a milder option, the BF Masala Marinated Chicken as the most popular meat frankie, and the Maharaja Paneer as the top vegetarian choice. The parathas are freshly prepared in-house daily, while the meats, vegetables, and sauces are marinated and seasoned using Chef Vij’s signature line of spice blends.

Guests can opt for various combos, which include a Coca-Cola Free Style beverage and Naughty & Tangy Masala Chips with Mint Chutney. Additionally, they can upgrade their meal with pakoras, samosas, or the BF Lentil and Chickpea Salad. A range of Kulfi flavors, a frozen dairy dessert originating from Delhi, are available, along with a refreshing Fresh Mango Lassi.

Bombay Frankies made its debut in Newmarket, Ontario, in October 2022 and plans to open 5-7 additional locations this year.
