Aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs,” the event, orchestrated by Travel Drumheller, promises a weekend brimming with prehistoric excitement and entertainment.
To achieve this record-breaking feat, participants are required to don full-body dinosaur costumes, complete with clear headpieces, excluding ride-on style costumes.
The festivities kick off on April 26 with a Plaza Pre-Party from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, featuring live music from Calgary’s Redhead Mack Band, alongside a host of games and activities.
The main event on April 27 starts at 10 am, with the official count for the world record attempt scheduled at 11 am. The day will be packed with live performances, including music by The Accomplice Band, street games, food trucks, and a mini-car show.
The celebration continues into the evening with a dinosaur movie screening at the Napier Theatre and an after-party at the Last Chance Saloon, starting at 3 pm.
Beyond the fun and games, the event also offers educational opportunities, such as fossil-related activities with the Royal Tyrrell Museum Education Team, showcasing Drumheller’s rich paleontological heritage.
Travel Drumheller says those in need of attire can find costumes for sale at the event, though availability is not guaranteed.
For those in Calgary, The Costume Shoppe offers a range of dino costumes. Travel Drumheller also has additional options available through an Amazon storefront.
