With KDays 2024, you can either embrace the heat or escape it. Edmonton’s biggest annual festival and event has a packed schedule of indoor and outdoor festivities, events, and entertainment, all surrounding the large midway.

K-Days

There is something for every age group between the music, the rides, carnival games, and indoor fun. And for many, the highlight of KDays each year is the food. Expect all your favourites back on the midway, a host of new snacks and interesting eats, or the new food and drink experiences at KDays.

KDays takes over Northlands and the EXPO Centre for 10 days this starting July 19, and tickets are on sale now. Get them online and in advance to avoid waiting at the gate.

KDays Music Fest

KDays has booked some big names for guests to be able to see, listen to, and enjoy, all with gate admission. The 2024 lineup includes acts like Ludacris, Metric, Simple Plan, K’Naan, and Death From Above 1979, to name a few! These concerts are free with gate admission with an option to purchase Front & Centre Fan Zone and KDays Music Lounge tickets. There is a concert for each of the 10 days.

KDays Midway: Carnival Foods & Dining Experiences

The classic KDays Midway is back this year with new food, new rides, competitions, and entertainment. This is where you’ll get all the best traditional fair experiences with Mini Donut stands, ice-cold lemonade or root beer, carnival games, and the beloved rides. Making their return are major midway highlights like the Crazy Mouse Coaster, the Zipper, the Ring of Fire, and the Swings. And while you choose between rides or food, watch for the KDays Strolling Performers throughout the Midway.

  • Each year, the new food list for KDays is awaited with much anticipation. This year, keep your eyes open for new items like the Korean Waffle Burger (Burger Joint), the Triple Pickle Poutine (Fry Guys), a Fried Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich (Sugar Pops), or Sour Candy Soft Serve (Summerland Soft Serve).
  • The Backyard BBQ dining area will feature fresh and hot-off-the-grill meals from BBQ Boss, Woodshed Burgers, Flipside BBQ, and Cornerstone BBQ.
  • New to 2024 are the food bike tours. These guided bike tours bring guests from Taste of Edmonton to KDays for a full day of unique and local dining experiences.

Relaxing at Klondike Park

Go back to the original KDays roots in Klondike Park, and step back into Klondike Days! The treed-in area offers shade and shelter from the heat, picnic areas, washrooms, and family-friendly activities.

  • The Great French Canadian Patio Party gives guests a chance to relax in the afternoons with live Francophone music, stories, dance, and magic!
  • Take part in the Rat Creek Mining Co.’s self-dig experience or hop aboard the Ledcor Klondike Express Train.

A Variety of Shopping Experiences

There will be many different types of shopping experiences to enjoy and browse during a break from the midway. These include markets of local vendors, farmers’ markets, pop-ups, and themed markets.

  • The Market Hall is open daily at the EXPO Centre with a huge variety of local vendors, including several local Edmonton creators and producers.
  • The KDays Pop-up Markets are 100% local shopping experiences with a different type of pop up for each day. Pop-up dates include July 19, 22, 24, 26, and 28.

The experience includes many chances to learn about Canada’s Indigenous history, cultures, traditions, and more about Truth & Reconciliation in Canada.

Evening Parties at KDays

Besides the big nightly concerts are two more major nightly events taking place throughout the 10 days. Plus, each night at KDays concludes with an 11pm firework display.

  • Enjoy even more music, for adults only, with the nightly Park After Dark event. These are held at Klondike Park from 10pm to midnight with a beer gardens and live DJ.
  • Each night (except for the 26th), the North Stage will transform into a Taylor Swift dance party from 9-11pm. The Ultimate Swiftie Dance Party will include two hours of her biggest hits, video projection, and a huge dance area.

KDays Feature Days

Plan your trip to KDays around the three feature theme days! These theme days will give you chances to immerse yourself in each topic through live entertainment, activities around the park, markets and shopping, and interactive experiences.

  • July 22: Indigenous Day
  • July 25: Throwback Day
  • July 26: Pride Night

The Explorium & Discovery Zone

The EXPO Centre’s interior is filled each year for KDays with themed exhibits, shopping, and this year: The Explorium, and the Kids Discovery Zone.

  • The Explorium Exhibit Halls at KDays is where you will catch the various markets that pop up over the 10 days: the Super Dogs shows, the Innovation Zone, and the Sensory Inclusion Zone.
  • Visit the Discovery Zone with kids to explore glowing exhibits, a tech zone, an obstacle course, a petting zoo, and live kids’ entertainment.

Art at KDays

Take in and experience a wonderful array of artistic displays and exhibits this year at KDays. There are three big artistic competitions that will create many exhibits, each of which includes art from different age categories.

  • New for 2024 at KDays is the Mural Garden! They’ve brought together local artists to help decorate the Northlands grounds with their creative pieces.
  • The KDays competitions will include a number of art forms and exhibitions or showcases of these works of art. For 2024, they will have Art, Food, and Horticulture Competitions, with entries on display throughout the grounds.

Catch the Competitions & Sporting Events

In addition to the KDays’ artistic competitions, there are even more battles to witness. These include sporting events and a rather unique competition.

  • Slamfest With Top Talent Wrestling is held on the North Plaza and is scheduled for July 19, 22 to 26.
  • Witness the amazing Alberta Strongman Competition, also at the North Plaza.
