Kraft Dinner is moving beyond its familiar mac and cheese bowl with a new product made for the ramen aisle.
KD Ramen will launch in Canada this July, bringing the brand’s cheese flavour into three instant ramen varieties: Cheesy Ramen, Extra Cheesy and Extra Spicy. The lineup uses the same real Canadian cheddar cheese found in original KD.
The new product comes as ramen continues to grow in popularity among Canadians, with cheesy ramen becoming a more noticeable part of that trend. KD’s version takes that idea and gives it a familiar Canadian spin.
Cheesy Ramen combines KD’s cheese flavour with savoury ramen notes, umami and a little spice. Extra Cheesy is aimed at people who want the comfort of KD without the heat. Extra Spicy adds more spice, balanced with KD’s creamy cheese flavour.
Before the national rollout, KD is teaming up with 7-Eleven Canada for a limited first taste. From June 25 to 27, between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., customers can try all three KD Ramen varieties for free at select 7-Eleven locations in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg, while supplies last.
Per the news release, the late-night timing is tied to the idea of convenience store snack runs, a natural fit for ramen fans and anyone looking for something quick after dark.
KD Ramen is launching exclusively in Canada and will be available nationwide in grocery, convenience and big-box retailers starting in July.
