Running for three weekends in December—December 13-15, 20-22, and 27-29—Luminaria invites visitors to enjoy candlelit pathways, starlit skies, and peaceful moments in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden.
After a year-long hiatus, the event has reduced its capacity to 8,100 guests over nine evenings, a significant decrease from the 30,000 tickets offered in past years. This change aims to create an intimate and tranquil atmosphere for attendees. Entry is available between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., with the last admission at 9:30 p.m.
Highlights of the event include thousands of flickering candles illuminating the garden, a capella performances, and a candle-lighting ceremony where visitors can honour loved ones. Guests can also enjoy complimentary hot apple cider and gather by firesides placed throughout the garden.
Advance booking is mandatory, and ticket availability is limited. Members of the garden had early access to purchase tickets starting November 5, and general public sales are now available. Organizers expect the remaining tickets to sell out quickly.
