Tucked into the woods beside Mactaquac Provincial Park, Mangata Mactaquac is set up for the kind of winter escape where you spend your days in the snow and your evenings in a steaming hot tub.
Six A-frame cabins sit on 27 acres of forest with two streams running through, directly connected to more than 30 kilometres of park trails and still only a short drive from Fredericton. Each cabin is compact, tiny-home style, but fully equipped, and each has its own wood-fired hot tub that the owners keep running even on the coldest days.
- Cabin on the Falls is the most intimate of the larger units, sleeping four. The layout centres on a loft queen bed and a sleeper sectional, framed by high ceilings and big windows. Its covered porch overlooks Meadow Brook, and the stream-side hot tub is the anchor point here.
- The Lazy Maple increases the footprint to more than 500 square feet and accommodates up to five guests. With two lofted bedrooms and tall ceilings, it feels airy for a tiny-home design.
- The Owl’s Nest also hosts five guests and sits directly on Meadow Brook. Two queen beds, three total sleeping spaces, and a fully equipped interior keep things simple, while the outdoor hot tub and fire pit lean into the woodland setting.
- Oasis of the Trees is the largest A-frame on site, sleeping five across two bedrooms. The lofted layout and tall pines surrounding the cabin make the space feel bigger than its footprint. Guests get two smart TVs, board games, and a custom-tiled bathroom, along with the usual private hot tub and covered deck.
- For couples or minimalists, The Cozy Triangle simplifies to a two-person layout. It includes a queen bedroom, a sleeper sectional, a modern kitchen, and a three-person wood-fired hot tub.
- The newest addition, Creekside Haven, sleeps three but can fit young families of four. The main-floor queen bed, sleeper sectional, and tiled shower mirror Mangata’s standard features, with a hot tub and fire pit beside the creek.

- Mactaquac Provincial Park offers plenty of activities, and winter brings sliding hills, a skating pond, forest skate trails, cross-country skiing, snowshoe rentals, and more!

- Kings Landing Historical Settlement, roughly 20 minutes away, transforms into Christmas Village Aglow, with historic buildings lit up, campfires outside the Grant Store.
