This June, there are new options for brunch, lunch, or dinner, around every corner. Over May, the city had a handful of new restaurants open up for new sweet treats, coffees, brunch, wine, cocktails, and much more.
Plus, Calgary’s attractions and restaurants have a few noteworthy dining events coming up in June. And while those events focus on a variety of different themes or cuisines, June 16th meal plans can be reserved with many restaurants especially for Father’s Day.

Misoan Cakes
Help this Calgary cake shop celebrate the long-awaited opening of their first brick and mortar shop. Misoan Cakes offers gluten free and Korean inspired desserts, with cake as the star of the menu. They opened in mid-May in the Beltline with a menu of delicious treats that are packed in a way that makes them easy to take home, or on a picnic.

The Sweatered Hen
The Sweatered Hen is open for breakfast and brunch on the edge of the Mount Royal neighbourhood on 17th Avenue. The cozy new brunch spot is creating bua fun around Calgary for their fresh pastries and sweets, indulgent brunch flavours, and fun list of brunch cocktails.

Bar Gigi
Bar Gigi is considered a new small-scale restaurant in Calgary. This small-scale concept involves a more intimate dining space paired with a menu of featured small plates and appetizers. Those dishes include globally inspired flavours and fusion. The wine list has been thoughtfully curated to pair with menu items.

Cold Beer & Pizza
There are, obviously, two major parts to the menu of this new Calgary pub. From the bar, take your pick from a large selection of local craft beer. And from the kitchen, select from a number of mouth-watering Roman-style pizzas. Cold Beer & Pizza offer all you need in your new neighbourhood bar, including late-night pizza delivery!

Chengdu Hot Pot
Don’t hesitate to reserve your table with Calgary’s newest hot pot restaurant experience. Chengdu Hot Pot opened last month with a large menu of hot pot soup fillings, garnishes, and broth types. The new soup spot is perfect for the next rainy day this June. Chengdu Hot Pot are open for lunch and dinner to help you experience of flavours of the Chinese region of Chengdu.

Makchang Dodook
This new Korean barbecue restaurant in Calgary comes with a unique twist. This is a jail-themed restaurant with all the elements of jail, the bars and brick, tastefully incorporated into the décor. All in all, they are now open to steal your heart and tastebuds through authentic Korean barbecue from Calgary’s Royal Vista neighbourhood.

Chaiiwala of London
The Chaiiwala of London chain is a world-wide tea and café brand. Chaiiwala’s brand-new Calgary Cityscape location marks its 11th Canadian location and delivers on the brand’s focus on Middle Eastern drinks and cuisine. The café started in Dubai with simple beginnings: selling chai tea as a street vendor. After expanding across the Middle East, Chaiiwala eventually grew into other countries, including Canada.

June Dining Events in Calgary
Heritage Park Dining Experiences in June
There are a few special dining events taking place this month in Calgary’s Heritage Park, including Father’s Day, and a murder mystery dinner.
- Celebrate with dad and the whole family at Heritage Park for the attraction’s annual brunch event. The brunch buffet includes 25% off admission to the park. Father’s Day weekend is the same weekend the park celebrates the Children’s Festival!
- There are a few chances throughout June to experience Murder at the Park: Death Checks In. The event includes a murder mystery game and a three-course dinner.
The Calgary Zoo June Dining Experiences
Take your pick from numerous wonderful dining experiences this June with the Calgary Zoo and Wilder Institute. Among the events are two family-friendly events, and two that are 18+.
- Get your tickets as soon as you can for the Calgary Zoo’s Polar Bear Breakfast, as these tickets go quickly! Choose from a June 9th or a June 29th date for these events.
- The Wilder Institute’s Sunday Safari Brunch are currently offering tickets for June 2, 9, 23, and 30. Stay tuned for any Father’s Day Specials that might pop-up!
- While the Zoo Brew events are more beer and drink-focused, a ticket to the event will include access to chef-attended food stations scattered about the Zoo! The adults-only event occurs June 7.
- If you can’t make it time for Zoo Brew, you’ll still have the chance for tickets to the Zoo’s Grazers Dining Series with Bridgeland Distillery on June 28.
