The new bridge Jaipur Bridge connecting Eau Claire to Prince’s Island Park is now open to the public.
The original bridge built in 1968, named in honour of one of Calgary’s sister cities in India, closed in late 2019 when it was determined that the previous bridge was at the end of its lifespan.

The new $11.45 million, 6m wide and 60 m long pedestrian bridge has integrated LED lights which will illuminate the walkway at night.

According to the news release, development works in Eau Claire Plaza and Eau Claire Promenade were completed ahead of schedule to coincide with the opening of Jaipur Bridge so that Calgarians can maintain access to Prince’s Island when the bridge at 2 Street S.W. closes to complete work on the flood barrier.
In case you did not know, Quebec City, Daejeon in South Korea, Daqing in China, Naucalpan in Mexico, and Phoenix in Arizona are the other sister cities of Calgary.
Canada Day festivities will be returning to Eau Claire Market this year.
