The fall season signals many things: cooler weather, and a need for warm or cozy drinks, the start of the holiday season, and all things spooky. And right on time for all things fall are a handful of new restaurants, cafes, and takeout restaurants in Vancouver.

These are places to gather for the holidays, enjoying a pretty latte or warm drink, or for a hearty and homecooked meal. Plus, there are a few dining events in Vancouver this season to help celebrate all the best parts of fall, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Oktoberfest.

 

Sushi Umi

The Sushi Umi name may sound familiar already, especially for those in North Vancouver. The local restaurant started with their original North Vancouver Sushi Umi and were excited to expand with a second location this past August. Visit them in the new Fairview location to try their famous platters of nigiri, rolls, sashimi, and more.

Perfecto Café

The much-loved and local Perfecto Café are now on Robson! Perfecto Café, known for its beautiful drinks and latte art, opened its second Vancouver location on Robson late this past summer. Now, locals can grab their photo-worthy beverages from there or the OG Davie Street location.

La Forchetta

This new cozy Italian restaurant in Burnaby is a new place to gather, enjoy a drink, and indulge in La Forechetta’s handmade pastas. La Forchetta provides a menu of classic and authentic Italian cuisine with some menu items including a modern flare or twist. Stand by and watch the restaurant’s socials for the La Forchetta wine nights.

Nonna’s Cucina

Next up, Italian street food! While some Italian restaurants offer the finer side of the country’s cuisine, places like the new Nonna’s Cucina provide the finer side of the casual Italian food. The new spot on Commercial Drive offer an array of meal and snack items like hearty sandwiches and plates of pasta.

El Gato Gab Gab

With Vancouver’s new El Gato Gab Gab you get a brand-new spot for drinks with friends, a quick snack, a full meal, and above all else, great-tasting Mexican food. The food menu is filled with authentic flavours from dishes like barbacoa beef taco, chorizo con huevo botanas, or lamb shank birria tacos, to name a few. El Gato Gab Gab also have an extensive menu of unique craft cocktails.

Annabelle’s

The new Annabelle’s Café in Chinatown opened this past summer and are creating buzz around their fresh-daily pastries. The smaller, but oh-so-cozy shop serve their pastries along with their second signature treat: gelato! And as a full café, Annabelle’s also provide a menu of hot and cold coffee/tea drinks.

Tequila Lounge

As one of Gastown’s newest Mexican-inspired restaurants and clubs, the Tequila Lounge has a lot to offer! During the week, the Lounge is open 11-11 for brunch, lunch, or dinner. And on the weekends, the Tequila Lounge is open late with DJ or live music, special event weekends, and a dancefloor. The menu is filled with traditional dishes, and Mexican cuisine with the Tequila Lounge’s own twist.

Onigiri Ya

The concept for Vancouver’s new Onigiri Ya is grab-and-go. They create the perfect takeout snack or meal for picnics, when in a rush, or when simply in the neighbourhood. This also means that all of their menu items are perfectly packaged for a takeout situation and are easy to eat on to go.
