Edmonton’s ICE District is gearing up for another packed New Year’s Eve, and the plan reads like a full-night relay of hockey, music, and national TV coverage all unfolding in the plaza.
OEG Sports & Entertainment has laid out the details, and if you’re thinking of heading downtown, here’s what the night will look like.
The plaza action begins at 6:00 p.m., when fans can roll in for an Oilers pre-game tailgate and watch party.
The Edmonton Oilers–Boston Bruins matchup at Rogers Place will be shown on the large outdoor screen, with food, drinks, a DJ, and prize giveaways to keep things busy before midnight rolls around.
Once the game wraps up, Owen Riegling takes over the plaza stage, leading into the late-night portion of the celebration. Just before the clock hits twelve, Vavo steps in for a midnight set synced to giant countdown screens and the fireworks show that will cap off the night.
Like always, the event is free, though space is limited, so showing up early isn’t just smart, it’s necessary.
ICE District has been chosen as the Western Canada anchor location for CBC’s Live Cross-Canada Countdown. Coverage starts at 6:00 PM MT across CBC News Network, CBC Gem, the CBC News app, cbcnews.ca, the CBC News streaming channel and YouTube, with additional live coverage rolling out on CBC TV, CBC Radio, and CBC Listen at 7:00 PM MT.
If the turnout from last year’s thousands is any indication, Edmonton’s ready to ring in 2026 with some serious energy.
