Pearl Jam announced that they are postponing their 16-date tour spring tour, which was scheduled to kick-off on March 18 in Toronto. The tour was in support of their much-anticipated eleventh studio album, Gigaton. Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton marked the band’s first studio album since GRAMMY award-winning Lightning Bolt, which was released on October 15, 2013.

The band said that they are postponing the first leg of their PJ/Gigaton tour with “deep frustration and regret”.

They said that “As residents of the city of Seattle, we’ve been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand how quickly these disastrous situations can escalate. Our kids’ schools have closed along with universities and businesses. It’s been brutal and it’s gonna get worse before it gets better. So we are being told that being part of large gatherings is high on the list of things to avoid as this global health crisis is now beginning to affect all of our lives. Unfortunately, communing in large groups is a huge part of what we do as a band and the tour we’ve been busy planning for months is now in jeopardy…”

Postponed Dates:

March 18 @ Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON

March 20 @ Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa, ON

March 22 @ Videotron Centre, Quebec City, QC

March 24 @ FirstOntario Centre, Hamilton, ON
