British Columbia Announces Canada’s First Death From Coronavirus

Dr. Bonnie Henry reported British Columbia’s first fatality relating to coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Saturday, Dr Henry had announced that two inmates of a long-term care facility, Lynn Valley Care Centre were diagnosed with coronavirus as a result of community spread. This case was also Canada’s first and only recorded (until now) case of community transmission. One of the diagnosed residents of the facility has died due to complications that arose from COVID-19.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, also said that there are now five new cases in the province. The total number of cases in the province to 32.

 

Current Scenario in Canada

Currently in Canada, the total positive COVID-19 cases stand at 77, with 32 cases in British Columbia, 7 in Alberta, 34 in Ontario and 4 in Quebec. Of these 77, 8 cases, 4 each in B.C. and Ontario were fully resolved, with each of those patients having two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
