Events Description
Since their arrival in 2012, the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s penguins have become a visitor favourite! Once again this winter, you can see the king penguins outside of their habitat as they take a royal promenade through zoo grounds.
The Penguin Walk, presented by WestJet, offers the king penguins an opportunity for wintery enrichment as well as additional daily exercise.
Up to fourteen king penguins will participate in the daily march, including Diana, Grace, Solomon, Cleopatra, Louis, Phillipe, Henri, Napoleon, George, Boudicca, Rupert, Arthur, Alfred and our king penguin chick, Augustus.
The Penguin Walk is dependent on the birds’ desire to walk as well as the weather, but luckily for onlookers, the colony loves to walk and usually chooses to!
