The king penguin colony heads out on zoo grounds for a daily enrichment walk daily at 11:00 a.m. in the winter months and visitors get to experience the fun.
This year, five new king penguins who arrived from Montreal in 2018 will join Diana, Grace, Hera, Arthur, Caesar, Tut, Solomon, Nero, Edward and Cleo for the daily waddle from Penguin Plunge.
This incredible program allows visitors to get an up close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. This is a free-choice activity for the penguins, and is subject to weather conditions.
King penguins are listed as least concern on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as they need healthy polar habitats to survive and these ecosystems are heavily affected by changing climates.
