I’m sure by now you’ve come across at least, one picture of someone staying in those incredible geodesic domes on Instagram. We are also sure that you’ve probably wanted to do the same. Well, we’ve got the perfect place for you (if you are searching for a place near Edmonton) at Elk Island Retreat, where they have incredible geodesic domes, with the best views!
These geo domes are perfectly quiet, peaceful and completely surrounded by nature, which makes it an ideal spot to de-stress after a long week. And at night you and your loved one can fall asleep, as you gaze at the massive, luminous, celestial bodies in the night sky.
The domes which are incredibly comfortable are supplied with power and also provide multiple amenities including a queen-size bed, a coffee maker, a picnic table and a fireplace, to keep you warm and cozy.
They also have a variety of camping options available including traditional tent camping and full-service RV sites, tipi stays, and comfort camping options in geodesic domes, yurts and trapper cabins.
Elk Island Retreat advises you to bring your own camping gear but, if you don’t have any, you can always rent a camping kit from them.
A shower building and restrooms are nearby, where you can go to freshen up.
Although the geo domes have a cooking shelter with a barbecue, they also offer some other options too, such as the Bits & Bites Charcuterie Board with wine (only available on weekends) and bannock with jam and mint tea. The charcuterie board for 2-3 people costs $125 and the Bannock costs $10 per person.
These domes can be booked on their website and can accommodate only 2 adults. The cost per night, from Monday to Thursday is $184 and the cost on the weekend is $199. Upon arrival, a pre-authorized fee of $300 is required.
The Elk Island Retreat is located at 54371 Range Road 205, Fort Saskatchewan. There are plenty of places you can visit nearby as Elk Island National Park‘s west gate only is 3 km from Elk Island Retreat. Ukrainian Heritage Cultural Village is a 25 minutes drive away and downtown Edmonton is just 55 kms away.

Weekdays: Monday – Thursday $204 per night (2 people max – bedding included)
SOLARIS GEO DOME:
Weekends: Friday – Sunday $199 per night (2 people max – bedding included)
Weekdays: Monday – Thursday $184 per night (2 people max – bedding included)
A $300 pre-authorization deposit will be taken on arrival for all Dome rentals and will be released upon satisfactory inspection of the rental unit and barbecue / cooking / wash station. Valid credit card required.
