Firelight Lantern Festival is organized by the Department of Illumination and it is a cherished Prince Edward County tradition since 2013.
The festival is bigger and better this year as it has expanded to two magical evenings of arts and music from November 4 and 5, 2022.
Friday will be a 19+ only evening filled with food, drink, dancing, art installations and interactive performances and will showcase Kingston’s unique and experimental folkestra, The Gertrudes.
The famous Lantern Parade will return on Saturday.

Starting at Benson Park, the parade will make its way down Main Street to the Crystal Palace, where Toronto’s hip-hop brass band Bangerz Brass will take the mainstage.
Leading the festival will be giant lantern puppets by Nella Casson, Krista Dalby, Chrissy Poitras, Tim Snyder and Kyle Topping.
Those who want to participate in the festival by creating lanterns can do so and if you want help, the Department of Illumination will be hosting community lantern-making workshops, running October 21st to 30th at the Department of Illumination studio in the lower level of The Armoury in Picton. All the materials and instructions necessary to make a lantern will be provided for $10.
Visitors can also enjoy an eclectic array of performances from multiformat puppet masters Imagicario, shadow puppetry by Birdbone Theatre, Peterborough circus performers, and Trellis Arts on both days.
DJ Ombudsman will be providing the beats to keep the dance floor moving, and Kaleidoscope will be on-site to keep everyone fed.
So dress up in wild and wonderful costumes and head to Crystal Palace, Picton for a unique fall night celebration.
