Saskatchewan residents and visitors will be able to enter provincial parks for free on Saturday, June 6, 2026, as Sask Parks marks National Trails Day.
The day is being framed as an early-season chance to get outside before summer fully settles in. More than a dozen provincial parks and recreation sites will offer guided hikes or special programming, giving visitors a structured way to explore different landscapes across the province.
Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said Saskatchewan’s parks offer a wide mix of natural spaces and trails. She also pointed to the value of spending time outdoors for health and well-being.
The scheduled activities include the Hike to Nicolle Homestead at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, the Old Baldy Hike at Candle Lake Provincial Park, Life in the Lodgepoles at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, and a Blooming Cacti Hike at Douglas Provincial Park.
Other events include Boreal Basics at Duck Mountain, Tower Trek at Great Blue Heron, the Wild Side of Klinger Trail Hike at Greenwater Lake, Scenic Valley Trek at Echo Valley, Back in the Boreal at Meadow Lake, Hike the Uplands at Moose Mountain, and Feathered Friends Hike at Pike Lake.
Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park will host Take on the Trails with Prairie Sky Running Company, along with a Coffee Corner: Mindfulness Walk. Douglas Provincial Park will also offer a mindfulness walk. At Wascana Trails Natural Recreation Site, visitors can take part in Hike and Bike at Wascana Trails.
Sask Parks is advising visitors to arrive early, since guided hikes will begin at their scheduled times. People are also encouraged to bring water, snacks, sun protection and sturdy footwear.
