Saskatchewan’s provincial parks are offering a range of recreational and cultural events for visitors until August 20. Activities include athletic competitions, art festivals, outdoor film screenings, and family-friendly programming, all included with a valid Park Entry Permit.

Makwa Lake Provincial Park will hold its second annual Tri-Loon-Athon on August 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will compete in a triathlon-style event that begins with a 300-metre open water swim off Stabler Point Beach, followed by a 10-kilometre bike ride and a 2.5-kilometre run.
Also on August 9, Meadow Lake Provincial Park will host Festival in the Forest, a full-day event from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees can participate in cultural workshops, visit a vendor market, and enjoy live music by Saskatchewan-based artist Justin LaBrash in the evening.
Summer Cinema screenings continue across several parks. Outdoor movies include Garfield (2024) at Douglas Provincial Park on August 9 and a double feature—Paddington in Peru and Wicked—at Echo Valley on August 16. Additional showings include The Wild Robot at Makwa Lake (August 23), Despicable Me 4 at The Battlefords (August 30), and Moana 2 at Saskatchewan Landing (September 6). Pre-show craft activities will be led by park interpreters.
The Barefoot Beach Bash will take place at Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park on August 16 from 1 to 8:30 p.m., featuring sandcastle contests and a concert by Justin LaBrash.
On August 23, Moose Mountain Provincial Park will host the Cabin Fever Art Festival. From 1 to 8:30 p.m., visitors can explore historic artist cabins, participate in workshops, view local artwork, and attend a concert.
