The annual Savour Strathcona festival is returning to celebrate the best of local food, art, and music. The event, renowned for uniting independent restaurants, food trucks, and artists from around Strathcona County, is brimming with a variety of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.
From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Agora and surrounding plazas will transform into a lively showcase of local flavour and creativity.
Food lovers can expect a wide spread of options, from trucks like Casa12doce and The Purple Perogy to restaurants such as Big Bear Sandwich Co., Yoshi Sushi, and Sawaddee Thai Cuisine.
Sweet tooths won’t be left out, with vendors like Crinkle Mingle and Twice Cream offering treats.
For those looking to sip something stronger, local brewers and wineries, including 70 Acre Brew Co. and Barr Estate Winery, will be pouring.
Festival Lane will play host to an open-air farmers’ market in partnership with the Sherwood Park Farmers’ Market and Strathcona Sunny Girl Markets. Shoppers will find everything from homemade salsa to gluten-free baking, alongside crafts, jewelry, and handmade goods. Inside the Agora, visitors can sample small plates from restaurant vendors, while Gallery@501 highlights original works from regional artists and makers.
Visual artists from across the county are part of the mix, with names like Deborah Hughes-Gahr, Ken Duncan, and Sarah Evans showcasing their work at the artisan market. The event is also a chance to see demonstrations from groups such as the Alberta Wildlife Carving Association.
Music is woven throughout the festival, with performances on the Luke Jansen Soundstage running all afternoon. The lineup includes local talents like Asiah Holm, Sam Steffen, and Mallory Chipman. The stage itself carries special meaning—it was named in memory of Luke Jansen, a county employee who worked on the festival before his passing in 2017.
The event isn’t just about food and entertainment; it’s also a celebration of community spirit. Organizers say the collaboration between Gallery@501, local markets, and Strathcona’s restaurants and makers reflects a commitment to supporting homegrown talent.
