A significant feature of the park is its giant hill. From the top of the Chinguacousy Park hill, you’ll get 360-degree views of Brampton. Beyond that, this hill is also open for some extra winter fun. Discover all the winter fun that awaits at Chinguacousy Park- make sure to bring skates, a toboggan, or snowshoes.
Outdoor Winter Fun at Chinguacousy Park
Start your fun from the top of the hill! Afterward, the remainder of the park has much more to offer, such as more recreation and indoor facilities.
- The most noticeable feature of Chinguacousy Park during the winter season is Mount Chinguacousy off Central Park Drive. This large hill is set up for snow tubing in the winter with set tubing lanes and a tube lift/conveyor belt. From the top of the hill, enjoy sweeping views of Brampton.
- On the opposite side of the park and closer to the garden areas is the Chinguacousy Park outdoor skating rink. This large, open rink space is perfect for a leisurely glide, or for learning how to skate. The skating rink has an adjacent warm-up and change building with washrooms and vending machines, while the rink is also surrounded by concrete steps for resting. More features of the rink include outdoor fire pits, sheltered picnic tables, and lights for evening skating.
- Brampton is home to several more outdoor skating rinks. Visit other local parks to find skating trails and pathways, shiny or hockey rinks, and a covered outdoor rink.
- The smaller hill of Chinguacousy Park is open to sledding and tobogganing, too.
Follow the Fitness Trail to the Gardens
The Chinguacousy Trail makes its way through a large portion of Brampton, with Donald M Gordon Chinguacousy Park central to the route. The park’s fitness trail runs along the west side of the park before connecting with the garden trails.
The trails loop around the park ponds and skating area. And all along the Fitness Trail, you’ll find outdoor gym equipment, free for public use. Whether you’re on the trail for a stroll or a workout, there are many pretty winter scenes throughout the park.
Follow the Chinguacousy Trail to Other Brampton Parks
Altogether, the Chinguacousy Trail is over 15km long as it winds alongside the creeks and parks of Brampton.
The trail offers chances for winter wildlife viewing and birding, as well as chances to visit several other local parks. These are the smaller parks of Brampton, as the greenspaces follow the creek through the city.
