The Gardens come alive with over 300,000 flowering bulbs, including tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths, which begin to show their colours from early March through late May.
The peak of the Spring Garden is typically observed from the start of April to the first week of May, with specific blooms like the blue poppy drawing attention from mid-May to mid-June. Among the favourites are the rhododendron, tulip, daffodil, ornamental cherry, magnolia, and peony, showcasing the Gardens’ diverse botanical collection.
The Gardens also feature a variety of magnolia, cherry, plum, and crabapple trees, along with other bulb species that add depth to the spring display.
This year too, Butchart Gardens will host annual events like the Easter bunny hunt from March 29 to April 1 and Mother’s Day celebrations with live music and dining options.
The Blue Poppy Restaurant will reopen for lunch service on April 15 and the daily Afternoon Tea service in The Dining Room Restaurant will start on April 1.
