If you’re planning a trip to St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market this summer, you’ll have an extra day to shop.
Starting Tuesday, June 17, the market will be open on Tuesdays through to the end of August, in addition to its regular Thursday and Saturday hours.
The market, a long-standing institution in the region, is marking its five-decade milestone with a series of new activities and attractions for visitors. A commemorative exhibition, titled “Celebrating 50 Years of Community,” will be on display on the second floor of the main building. The installation documents the history and development of the market since its inception.

St. Jacobs Farmers Market After the fire (2013)
General Manager Joanna Loebach noted the significance of the occasion, reflecting on both the market’s cultural value and its resilience following challenges such as the 2013 fire. “Fifty years is a big milestone,” she said, crediting community support as central to the market’s evolution.
Among this summer’s additions is Stuck on St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, an interactive scavenger hunt designed for all ages. Participants can search for hidden stickers throughout the market to win special edition 50th-anniversary merchandise.
Children’s programming, Farmyard Follies, will take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings, offering storytelling and themed crafts with characters like Cinderella and the Little Mermaid.
The newly opened Stockyards Brew Hall Patio, located across from the market, will offer food and drink options throughout the week.
To complete your visit to St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market this summer, consider adding a heritage train ride with the Waterloo Central Railway. Their Hop-On/Hop-Off service lets you explore the region at your own pace, with stops at Northfield Drive, the Market, St. Jacobs, and Elmira. It’s a scenic 1 hour 45-minute round trip through historic Mennonite farmland—perfect for a relaxed, nostalgic day out.
