Still Haven’t Claimed Alberta’s $100 Energy Rebate? You Now Have Until Oct. 31

Albertans who have not yet applied for the province’s $100 Alberta Energy Rebate now have until  Oct. 31, 2026 to do so.

Alberta has extended the original application period by 31 days, giving eligible residents another month to claim the one-time payment.

More than 1.45 million Albertans have already applied for or received the rebate, and over 97 per cent of them have received their $100 payment.

“More than 1.45 million Albertans have already applied for and received the rebate. By extending the deadline, we are giving more families the time they need to apply and receive real relief,” said Jason Nixon, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance.

The rebate program launched July 1 and is funded through increased provincial revenues from higher oil prices.

For households, the total payment can be higher than $100. An eligible two-adult household can receive $200, while additional eligible adult family members or children aged 18 or older living in the same home may qualify for another $100 each.

Who qualifies for the $100 rebate?

Applicants must meet all four requirements:

• Be 18 or older as of July 1, 2026
• Be an Alberta resident
• Have filed a 2025 tax return
• Have a total annual household income of $225,000 or less

The province has also added another way to verify applications. Residents can now use their 2025 Notice of Assessment, in addition to online banking or document verification, when applying through the online portal.

Some Albertans did not need to apply. A total of  315,422 people  receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit or enrolled in AISH, the Alberta Disability Assistance Program, or Income Support were automatically enrolled for the payment.

The $100 rebate is not taxableand does not need to be reported to the Canada Revenue Agency. Receiving it will also not change benefit amounts or eligibility under the listed provincial assistance programs or federal seniors’ programs.

The application portal will close Oct. 31.

How to apply

• Step 1: Log into your verified Alberta.ca account
  If you don’t have an account, you can sign up directly on Alberta.ca.
• Step 2: Verify your information
  • Applicants need to ensure:
  • Your mailing address on your Alberta driver’s licence or identification card matches the information in your Alberta.ca account.
• Step 3: Register through the online portal at alberta.ca/alberta-energy-rebate
  Once logged into the payment portal, you will need to provide:
  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • The SIN, date of birth, legal given name(s), and legal last name of your spouse or common-law partner as reported on your 2025 income tax return (if applicable)
• Step 4: Set up your payment method
  Payments will be sent via e-transfer to your bank account using Interac’s Verification Service.
• Step 5: Save and submit your application
  • You can pause and return to your application at any time; progress is saved automatically.
  • Once submitted, changes can not be made.
  • Please allow up to 14 days for review after submission.
