Flowers gardens attract many, and when it comes to the sunflowers, their blossom and charm spread a unique glory across the miles.

Make the most of your summer days with your family and friends in the lap of nature with these astonishing sunflower fields and mazes. Alberta is flooded with awe-inspiring scenic beauties, and the blossoms of sunflower fields provide enhanced fascination and fill your summer with bright yellow memories.

Whether you want to brighten your Instagram wall or want a fun family photo, here is a list of Sunflower fields and mazes across Alberta that you can visit for a fun-filled summer.

 

The best time to visit sunflower fields is in mid to late August.

1. Edmonton Corn Maze

Every year, Edmonton Corn Maze cuts a new design so that visitors can get lost in a “new way” in the maze. There is also a wide field with sunflowers to catch up with “blossoming” selfies. They also offer a variety of fun farm activities, including pedal carts and jumping pillows. Single admissions are offered which include a cheerful experience of all the farm activities.

Cost: General – $15 per person ($14 online)
Youth (aged 4-11) – $13 ($12 online)
Child under 4 – Free

2. Birchwood Meadows

Birchwood Meadows has 35 varieties of flowers and other blooms for visits and pick-ups. Individuals, groups, and photographers, everyone is welcome on the farm to experience the scenic beauty. The farm is famous for flower-inspired scavenger hunt, and summer flower fest.

Cost: Entry is free.

3. Green Thumb Kids

Green Thumb Kids offers a sunflowers and wildflowers u-pick experience close to Edmonton. They also have a large Sunflower field providing picturesque scenery available by appointment only for professional photography.

Cost: $20 for maximum 20 stems

1. Kraay Family Farm

Home of the famous Lacombe Corn Maze, this place has about 40 attractions so that visitors can enjoy farm-related fun the whole day. Enjoy traditional farm activities and get lost in the Corn Maze, and the Sunflower field. Sunflower maze and festival were included in Kraay Family Farms in 2019, thus they are one of the new members in Alberta’s Sunflower farms. During the festival, a free sunflower is included with every ticket brought after 7 PM and free Sunflowers for the first 20 entries every day.

Cost: Sunflower Days is included with all Kraay Family Farm Admissions and Passes.

Day Pass:

Individual Day Ticket: $20.96 ($25.71 at the farm)

Senior (65+) Individual Day Ticket: $19.05 ($23.81 at the farm)

Sunflower stems will be on sale for $2 a stem and 5 stems for $10 in a mason jar. In 2025 all Sunflower sale proceeds are going to support the STARS Alberta.

  • Sunflower Valley Farms is closed for visitors in 2025.

3. Bowden SunMaze at Eagle Creek Farms

The Maze is at its full blossom, with about 100,000 Sunflowers spread around 3 acres of the field by mid-August. Location experiences frequent rain and shine, and thus, proper clothing with rubber boots is preferred during the visits. Sun Maze at Eagle Creek Farms is pet-friendly. There is also a selection of annuals and perennial flowers, including zinnias, snapdragons, ornamental grasses and more. The u-pick flower season is typically from early August until mid-September.

Sunflower Fields in Calgary and Southern Alberta

1. Calgary Farmyard

Calgary Farmyard introduced 2.5 acres of newest Sunflower Maze in 2019. The Sunflowers bloom s on for only 2 weeks with exciting experiences. Other attractions include 10+ acres in size corn maze, petting zoo, jumping pillows, and various festivals to celebrate farm activities.

2. Lethbridge Corn Maze

Lethbridge Corn Maze

Lethbridge Corn Maze has a field of blooming 1 acre of sunflowers for a photo session or to enjoy a walk-through during the month of August.
