The Black Angels, Pussy Riot among First Wave of Lineup Announcement for 2020 Sled Island Calgary

Sled Island, Calgary’s five-day music and arts festival that brings together a community of more than 250 bands, comedy, film and art as well as over 30,000 attendees in more than 30 venues has announced an incredibly diverse line-up including Black Angels,  Russia’s Pussy Riot, Sun Ra Arkestra, and the beautiful ambient soundscapes of Nivhek, the new project from Grouper’s Liz Harris.

  • Sacred Paws, featuring members of Shopping and Golden Grrls,

  • JOYFULTALK, who will be accompanied by a live string section for a very special performance celebrating the release of their new album A Separation of Being.

Sled Island’s guest curator, electronic and R&B infused violinist/vocalist Sudan Archives,  has handpicked an incredible collection of talent, including

  • Show Me The Body
  • R&B artist SassyBlack (formerly of THEESatisfaction, now defunct)
  • jazz drumming extrordinaire Jamire Williams
  • Toronto-based electronic infused hip-hop artist Sydanie, transgressive avant-garde harpist/vocalist Ahya Simone,
  • SoCal soft rock sensation Los Retros,
  • Sudanese electronic mastermind Sufyvn,
  • the mind-bending experimental electro-pop of Daddy.
